  • What People Are Saying About Military Mom Talk Radio

"Buck Stienke and I were honored to be on Military Moms Talk Radio show last week. Wow! What a dedicated bunch of wonderful (and witty) ladies. We're proud to be a part of and associated with a group like Military Moms in support of and dedicated to our armed forces, both past and present. Oorah!" - Ken Farmer and Buck Stienke Co-Authors of the Black Eagle Force series. "Appearing on Military Mom Talk Radio was a fantastic experience. Sandra and her team were wonderful to work with. Programs such as this one are so important because they cut through the hype and sensationalism and offer real military families a chance to address the general public about the realities of military life. All too often, the media focus is on the hardships of military life, so it's refreshing to have an outlet like Military Mom Talk Radio where guests can share not only the challenges of military life, but also the rewards. Less than one percent of our citizens serve in the Armed Forces. Understandably, there's a huge military/civilian divide. With our country involved in two wars, we can all benefit from more programming featuring the stories of real military families." - Andi Hurley
  • Carolyn Blashek of Operation Gratitude

Military families are our nation's treasure. Yet, spread around the world, they are not always aware of the great support they have here at home. One of the best ways Military families can learn about organizations such as Operation Gratitude is through radio shows like Military Mom Talk Radio that are available on Itunes and the Internet. Military Mom Radio is a great resource that can be downloaded anywhere and anytime, enabling our military to know they are appreciated and providing the civilian community opportunities to get involved in great causes.

A native Granite Stater, Michael Moffett has taught history and management courses on the high school, community college, and university levels. Moffett also served on active duty with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment from 1983-85. He returned to active duty in 1990 as commanding officer for the Marine Reserve Detachment out of Topsham, Maine, later designated as A-Company of the 1st Battalion, 25th Marines. Captain Moffett led these Marines to the Persian Gulf where they were attached to the 1st Marine Division for Operation Desert Storm and the liberation of Kuwait. Lt Col Moffett again returned to active duty after the 9/11 attacks, serving on General Tommy Franks’ Operations Staff at Central Command.

Lt Col Moffett later served as Director of the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program’s (MECEP) Prep School from 2003-2008. He joined Marine Corps University’s History Division in 2008, where he co-authored a monograph on the history of the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center with Major General Orlo Steele (USMC, retired). In January 2010, LtCol Moffett received one-year orders to serve as a field historian in Afghanistan. After retiring from the Marine Corps Reserve in 2011, Professor Moffett returned to Concord, N.H., where he teaches at the New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI-Concord) and writes a column for the Weirs Times (www.weirs.com).

In 2012 Warriors Publishing Group published the critically-acclaimed “FAHIM SPEAKS: A Warrior-Actor’s Odyssey from Afghanistan to Hollywood and Back,” co-authored by Professor Moffett and Fahim Fazli, an interpreter Moffett met in Afghanistan. The book received the Gold Medal  for “Best Military Biography” from the Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) on Sept. 29, 2012.

Born and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan, Fahim Fazli enjoyed a relatively privileged childhood until the Russians invaded his country. As a young adult he supported the resistance and when he and his family got the opportunity they fled first to Pakistan and then eventually to the United States (in 1985). Forced to support his family, Fahim was not able to pursue his passion of acting right away.  Eventually, though, he found work as a Hollywood  extra in 1987. Sixteen years later he finally earned a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card which positioned him for speaking roles.  Since 2003 Fahim has appeared in numerous movie and television productions, and has also served as a cultural/technical advisor for several movie productions. Most recently, he played an Iranian militant in Ben Affleck’s film “Argo,” which was released on Oct. 12.  Fahim currently lives in Orange County, California, and continues his work in television and movies. His memoir, Fahim Speaks, was released in March of 2012.

Today we’ll take a look at stress relative to time.  When we can’t control time how do we manage energy and stress? Folks are often in deployment cycles waiting (too much time) – while on a day-to-day basis the single parent at home is “out of time.” Research from the corporate world invites people to consider – if you can’t manage time, manage your energy and stress. Time is finite – energy can be expanded and stress can be reduced. How can we expand energy – how can we help children do the same?  A related and interesting topic is while everyone knows that couples argue about money, kids and sex, a less visible but stressful topic for couples is “Why Couples Disagree About Time.”

When the police find two more murder victims the next day, both killed with the same weapon that killed the victim whom West had discovered the day before, and the female victim has his name written on a notepad in her purse, their focus on West intensifies.

A Sheriff’s deputy, Lieutenant Michelle Prado befriends West, and the two work together in an effort to find the real murderer. As their relationship develops, West finds himself physically attracted to her, but does she feel the same way?

When the FBI moves in to help out, the pressure to solve the case mounts.  West and Lieutenant Prado discover the local murders may be connected to a larger, nationwide FBI investigation into organized crime and political corruption.

We know that you possess special skills including leadership abilities and a work ethic second to none. Veteran Business Owners, Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB) and Military Business Owners are highly qualified to build successful businesses. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and responsible for job generation.

“People from the military have wonderful qualities that lend themselves to entrepreneurship,” said Debbie Gregory, one of the co-chairs and founders of  VAMBOA. She said veterans and active military personnel who own businesses needed an organization that could help them get information, collaborate with each other, and grow through connections with government agencies and private businesses that want to use their goods and services.

There were 2.4 million veterans who owned businesses in the United States in 2007, the Census Bureau reports. Those businesses had receipts totaling $1.2 trillion. California had 9.8 percent of the nation’s veteran-owned businesses.

John L. Rothdiener‘s home is nestled in the Missouri Ozarks, in the town of Bolivar. The author has had a lifelong passion for writing. Over the years, he has written many short stories and newspaper articles. The Quest for Forgiveness is his third novel and the first in his Quest series. His ideas have been conceived in dreams, which he firmly believes are inspired by God. Each novel pierces the soul, often encouraging the reader through difficulties and trials they are facing in their own lives. Each person holds that spark of hope for a better place…a better life…and a better tomorrow. Rothdiener desires for his books to help the reader in a quest, searching for life ‘s answers.

The Quest for Forgiveness will take the reader into the life of a flawed young girl as  she transforms into a superstar.  The story puts you into the life of the rich and famous and gives you understanding that they are just like you and me.

During that time, I served a s everything from a karate and self-defense instructor (yes, I have a black belt and 2 brown belts!), a personal trainer, a couples/honeymoon/family cruise and vacation travel company owner. Throughout all of my life, one thing has tied everything together– my love of working with people, and doing what I could to help them achieve their goals. Karate, self-defense, personal training, even travel… all of those career paths prepared me for my eventual road in marriage and family therapy. Helping others. Making people happier than they were, more secure, more confident, more capable.”
