  • What People Are Saying About Military Mom Talk Radio

"Buck Stienke and I were honored to be on Military Moms Talk Radio show last week. Wow! What a dedicated bunch of wonderful (and witty) ladies. We're proud to be a part of and associated with a group like Military Moms in support of and dedicated to our armed forces, both past and present. Oorah!" - Ken Farmer and Buck Stienke Co-Authors of the Black Eagle Force series. "Appearing on Military Mom Talk Radio was a fantastic experience. Sandra and her team were wonderful to work with. Programs such as this one are so important because they cut through the hype and sensationalism and offer real military families a chance to address the general public about the realities of military life. All too often, the media focus is on the hardships of military life, so it's refreshing to have an outlet like Military Mom Talk Radio where guests can share not only the challenges of military life, but also the rewards. Less than one percent of our citizens serve in the Armed Forces. Understandably, there's a huge military/civilian divide. With our country involved in two wars, we can all benefit from more programming featuring the stories of real military families." - Andi Hurley
  • Carolyn Blashek of Operation Gratitude

Military families are our nation's treasure. Yet, spread around the world, they are not always aware of the great support they have here at home. One of the best ways Military families can learn about organizations such as Operation Gratitude is through radio shows like Military Mom Talk Radio that are available on Itunes and the Internet. Military Mom Radio is a great resource that can be downloaded anywhere and anytime, enabling our military to know they are appreciated and providing the civilian community opportunities to get involved in great causes.

Russer is an author, coach and speaker for the Live Outrageously movement. He is going to help military families and their friends navigate through change, transition and adjusting to a new normal. With 40 years of corporate, entrepreneurial and life skills experience, he can shed new light onto one of the most common aspects of military life: change.

Linda Franklin created Shining Service Worldwide™ in November 2010.  She says, “it was destiny”  The whole idea started to germinate when women serving in Afghanistan emailed her saying that they read Linda’s The Real Cougar Woman blog every day and how powerful they felt when they did. Shining Service Worldwide’s mission is to show appreciation and support to women currently serving in the military, military vets and military spouses. Too often our females in service fall through the cracks and don’t get the attention they deserve, or more importantly, they need.

Linda is visiting Military Mom Talk Radio this week to share new initiatives on the horizon for Shining Service Worldwide, specifically for transitioning women veterans.  Visit Linda at www.shiningserviceworldwide.com.

Raquel has been blogging about military life and everything that goes with it since 2007.  Whether you want to know it or not, she’ll tell you about it!  She was an Army brat growing up, was a soldier herself and married into the military.  She won’t tell you her exact age but suffice it to say that she has 40+ years of experience with all things Army.

Her blog is located at Life Lessons of a Military Wife (now in Europe!).  She also recently started podcasting and is trying to cover all things military, especially as it pertains to living overseas.  Don’t forget she also blogs and podcasts about her travels, so learn from her mistakes and triumphs!  She is determined to make your life as a military spouse and an American living overseas that much easier.

She recently PCSed from Germany and is now in Belgium, the land of the French Fry (don’t let anyone tell you it was a French invention).

A Heart Apart – A Voice for Military Children

A Heart Apart, Christine Piper, Melissa Seligman, military children, children of deployed soldiers, a child's voice, HEr War Her Voice, Lifecaptured.comToo often, the focus is on the uniform. On the one serving. But what of the countless children who have served silently, over and over again, through sustained deployments? Where are their news stories and accounts of bravery? What about medals for their sacrifice? There are books available for military children, several of which are highly recommended, but none of them offer what they crave: to literally see themselves and their loved ones in the content.

Written by Melissa Seligman and Chris Piper, A Heart Apart is different in that it encourages children to create and share their own unique stories, upload their own photos then share it with their deployed parent overseas. A Heart Apart is also unique in that it offer helpful suggestions for children too young to fully express themselves. With paint-by-number exercises revolving around the “mascot” (SGT Sam E. Hears, the Messenger Star), and fill-in-the blank letters, military children are encouraged to interact with their deployed parent while expressing their emotions and anxieties.

Each deployment is different. And each military child is special. Taking the time to celebrate each child’s uniqueness is essential in helping military personnel’s children on the road to healing and recovery. Each picture uploaded is a window into their hearts, and if a picture is worth a thousand words, these children have volumes to tell.

A Heart Apart believes in the healing power and the honest communication that comes through the written word. Giving young, struggling military children the opportunity to share in that experience is the first step in giving them the platform and understanding they are so desperately craving. These children serve bravely and repeatedly. They deserve the opportunity to share their story, honor their struggle, and salute their victory. Every hero should be celebrated.

Military Mom Talk Radio Features “Her War Her Voice” on January 10th

Her War Her Voice, Melissa Seligman, Chris Piper, Military Mom Talk Radio, military spouses, Sandra Beck, Tina Gonzales, Robin BoydHer War Her Voice is a safe, anonymous and free interactive community designed to hear the silent warriors.  There is no rank. No judgment.  Instead, Her War Her Voice  highlights her story. Her voice.

Melissa Seligman and Chris Piper join Sandra and Tina to talk about their project. Their website describes how those in uniform train to fight, survive, and emerge victorious. They spend months learning to combat their enemy and how to evade danger. Their families, however, have no training. No way to ensure that they are even surviving.  They have no way to identify the enemy. And they have no way to quantify their victory. Still, they rise.

A military spouse’s life revolves around waiting, always waiting, and hoping you have done enough, been enough, laughed enough, loved enough.  They move through the military lifestyle, always wondering if they have meet the “standard,” or if they have the strength to maintain a family. Military spouses push to be more – to break free of the confines of a label. The simple fact is a military spouse cannot be defined or simply put into a category.

Spouses don’t expect to be the ones with war wounds or the ones who need help. They don’t feel entitled. After all, they wear no uniform.  But spouses ARE in the battle.

Her War Her Voice is breaking the silence. Your battle cry is heard, your need to voice your struggle is answered. And the beauty in your victory. You are celebrated, supported, and commended. Melissa and Chris have also co-authored a book, “A Heart Apart” for military kids. Visit www.herwarhervoice.com for more information.
